One of the eight lunar phases
Waning Gibbous
The light begins to shrink after the peak. This phase is associated with gratitude and sharing — passing on what you learned while the experience is still fresh.
How to Use This Phase
Sharing knowledge, mentoring, giving thanks
The Light Begins to Shrink
After the full moon, the lit portion slowly decreases. During the waning gibbous phase, the Moon rises later each night and is visible into the morning.
This phase represents the beginning of the cycle's second half.
It is a time associated with reflection and sharing.
Sharing What You Learned
Tradition links the waning gibbous with teaching and passing on knowledge. Having reached the peak of the cycle, you now have experience to share.
This might mean mentoring someone, writing down lessons or simply talking through what happened.
Sharing helps consolidate what you have learned.
Gratitude
Many lunar practices encourage gratitude during this phase. Acknowledge the people and circumstances that supported your progress.
Expressing thanks can strengthen relationships and deepen satisfaction.
Even small acknowledgements matter.
Starting to Let Go
As the light fades, tradition suggests beginning to release what no longer serves you.
Notice habits, commitments or worries that feel heavy.
You do not need to drop them yet; simply identifying them prepares for the last quarter.
A Gentle Practice
Write down three things you learned during this cycle.
Share one of them with someone who might benefit.
Note one thing you are ready to release at the last quarter.
