One of the eight lunar phases
Last Quarter
Half the disc is lit again, this time on the other side. Tradition treats it as a turning point for release β letting go of what did not work rather than forcing it.
How to Use This Phase
Clearing out, forgiving, closing open loops
Half Dark, Half Light
About a week after the full moon, half of the Moon's face is lit again β this time the opposite half. This is the last quarter, sometimes called the third quarter.
It rises around midnight and is visible in the morning sky.
It marks a turning point toward the end of the cycle.
Release and Clear Out
Lunar tradition treats the last quarter as a time to let go. It is a good moment to clear clutter, end commitments that drain you and forgive old grievances.
Releasing what no longer works creates space for the next new moon.
This can feel uncomfortable, but it is also freeing.
Honest Assessment
Look back over the whole cycle. What worked? What did not? What would you do differently?
Honest reflection now helps you set better intentions next time.
Be kind to yourself in this review.
Closing Loops
Finish small tasks, answer outstanding messages and tie up loose ends.
Closing loops reduces mental clutter and helps you rest during the waning crescent.
Even a short list of completed tasks can bring a sense of relief.
A Simple Practice
Choose one thing β a habit, an object or a worry β to release this week.
Take a concrete step to let it go.
Notice how much lighter you feel as the cycle draws to a close.
